The
SIGNAL is a high quality general purpose survey meter that can be
used to monitor radiation levels for occupational exposures. It
is a small, light, handy instrument that can slip into a lab coat
pocket.
The sophisticated
circuitry inside the SIGNAL is protected by a durable black anodized
aluminum case. The measurement range is from 1 to 1000 mR/h. The
beeper is controlled by the power switch and the light is illuminated
by a push-button.
When the
instrument is first turned on it automatically displays the battery
level and beeps if the battery is good. The battery life is 500
hours or about a year under normal use.
The QR
or quick response meter eliminates the need for an adjustable time
constant. This circuit adjusts the time constant dynamically. When
the counting rate increases, the meter will quickly move up scale
then slow down as it approaches the true value. The same action
happens if the counting rate decreases; the meter will go down scale
quickly then as it nears the true value it will slow down. This
feature reduces the statistical meter fluctuations at low levels
while still responding quickly to significant changes in the reading.
Anywhere
there are occupational exposures there is a need for the SIGNAL.
