FWTs
gas filling system is an accessory for the various LET counters
and Ionization Chambers presently available. Its principal purpose
is to serve as an interface between a mechanical vacuum pump, a
supply of tissue- equivalent gas, and the LET counter.
The gas filling system is composed of:
1) an accurate mechanical vacuum gauge with a range from 0 to 5
cm, 0 to 10 cm, or 0 to 20 cm Hg; 2) connections to allow attachment
of a mechanical vacuum pump and a supply of tissue equivalent gas
3) bellows sealed valves with Teflon® seats to control the vacuum
and gas inlets and to serve as a protection device for the gauge;

a connector to allow attachment of the LET counter. The parts are
assembled on a rigid aluminum plate with deep engravings showing
the vacuum piping and component function.
The system has been assembled with extreme care so that contamination
is at a minimum. Individual components and the assembled complete
system have been helium leak tested to insure leak-free performance.
